Nium and Remote announce a partnership at Money20/20 Europe to enhance global workforce management with real-time cross-border payroll solutions

At Money20/20 Europe in Amsterdam, Nium, a global leader in real-time cross-border payments, and Remote, a prominent HR tech platform, have announced their partnership.

Nium's robust real-time payment infrastructure will be integrated with Remote's HR platform to offer quicker cross-border payroll transactions. Remote’s platform provides end-to-end HR solutions including hiring, onboarding, payroll, and compliance.

This integration is particularly significant - there's a growing demand for efficient payroll solutions in an increasingly globalised workforce.

According to a report by Grand View Research, the global payroll outsourcing market size was valued at US$9.9bn in 2020 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 4.8% from 2021 to 2028.

This growth is driven by the increasing need for businesses to manage their payroll functions efficiently while handling a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce.

Job van der Voort, CEO and Co-Founder at Remote

Job van der Voort, CEO and Co-Founder at Remote says: “As companies become increasingly global, the complexities of expanding compliantly across international borders also grow. Our partnership with Nium is designed to address these complexities head-on.

"Payroll is at the heart of any business and our partnership provides customers even greater confidence in their abilities to grow teams that stretch globally and still get paid on time, every time, in their local currency – no matter where they are in the world.”

Payroll As a Critical Function

The global multicounty payroll solutions market is expected to approach US$10.5bn by 2030, and much of this growth is concentrated in emerging markets, with the Philippines, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia among the top 10 destinations for payroll payments facilitated by Nium in 2023.

Today, the fintech company has sent US$2bn in payroll payments to 134 countries around the world.

Prajit Nanu, CEO and Founder at Nium, also highlighted the significance of this partnership for businesses with global teams. “If businesses want to stay competitive, it’s crucial that mission-critical payments like payroll don’t just work, but work well.

"And yet, companies continue to rely on legacy infrastructure or limited cross-border payment solutions to pay their employees and contractors worldwide. After all, payroll isn’t just about money. It’s about employers finding new ways to deepen connections, improve retention, and say thank you to their increasingly diverse and globally dispersed employees. We’re helping Remote deliver this differentiation to its customers and look forward to enabling people and businesses all over the world to realise the full potential of real-time cross-border payments together”.
