Fintech Evolution: How is Revolut Helping UK Merchants?

Revolut has introduced Subscriptions in the UK for merchants to have a unified method of managing recurring billing.
The new feature comes as a result of an upgrade in technical infrastructure, meaning that merchants can now optimise their businesses directly within the Revolut Business App.
Revolut Business: How it serves merchants
In efforts to unify subscription controls, Revolut Business’s introduction of Subscriptions in the UK will reduce friction for merchants.
Merchants will be able to build, automate and optimise subscriptions without leaving the Revolut app, ensuring smoother everyday business actions.
The company states that it has introduced Subscriptions in the UK to directly address customer "pain-points".
Merchants are typically required to utilise many platforms for business operations, including a separate app for subscriptions.
A scattered approach allows for complex manual reconciliation in addition to operational friction.
These in turn can result in an increased number of failed payments and significant customer churn.
What are the benefits of the tech upgrade?
Revolut Business’s Subscriptions will allow UK merchants more efficient methods of handling digital admin, instant reconciliation and unified financial control.
Merchants are able to set up subscriptions via the Revolut app or an API.
Access is also granted to bespoke plans and free trials, without the caveat of billing fees.
Alongside the benefits of the subscription app, merchants also have access to automated digital reminders. Their purpose is to assist in the reduction of missed payments and the growth of collection rates.
Alex Codina, General Manager of Acquiring at Revolut, comments: “Subscription revenue is the backbone of many modern businesses, but our customers were tired of juggling multiple software tools and high manual input just to manage recurring payments.
“We listened, and built a solution that simplifies the entire journey.
“By integrating robust subscription management with existing payment processing capabilities, we’re moving beyond simple payment acceptance and giving merchants a 360 view of their customers.
“This is a clear step towards our ambition of becoming the leading, all-in-one financial platform powering hundreds of thousands of fast-growing businesses globally.”
How Revolut continues to evolve
By targeting merchants, Revolut establishes itself as a business-centered fintech.
Revolut Business, an automated financial platform launched in 2017, states its goal is to help start-ups and enterprises accept and make payments globally.
It aims to be the one platform for managing all business finances.
The introduction of Subscriptions in the UK further cements the European fintech as an evolutionary leader from payments processor to full revenue operations partner.
After the company reached the milestone of US$1bn in annualised revenue in 2025, it has its sights set on further expansion away from the neobank image it established itself on.
The Audi Revolut F1 Team recently announced its partnership with digital assets platform Nexo.
2026 marks the first year that Audi Revolut will enter the FIA Formula 1 World Championship with sights to become a contender for the world championship title by 2030.
The partnership with Nexus highlights the importance of crypto as the digital assets platform focuses on building the next generation of wealth.
Announced earlier this year, the partnership promises co-creation from the two companies that share values of innovation and precision.
