FinTech LIVE Interview: Tamara M. Milne, Acrisure
On 22 and 23 October 2024, FinTech LIVE London Global Summit took place at 155 Bishopsgate for a two-day hybrid conference that fostered connections between the world’s leading fintech executives and organisations.
During our event, attendees had the opportunity to explore some of the most notable points of discussion in our industry, such as AI, sustainability, B2B payments and open banking.
The event also marked the launch of the inaugural Global FinTech Awards - a renowned awards ceremony that brought together leading executives, organisations and investors to commemorate the incredible growth of the fintech sector.
Across 18 categories, our awards ceremony celebrated those organisations and individuals that are embracing the latest technological developments and innovations in our industry, such as the rise of Gen AI, blockchain and digital banking.
Here, we recap our exclusive FinTech LIVE London interview with Tamara M. Milne, Chief Digital Officer at Acrisure.
🎤At FinTech LIVE London Global Summit, Tamara featured on our ‘Fintech Strategies’ panel alongside Luke O’Leary, Head of Legal at Qonto, Valur Thor Gunnarsson, CEO of Taktikal and Chris Rigby, Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer at Stenn.
What are some of the key points you discussed today (during your panel discussion, ‘FinTech Strategies’)?
“We discussed quite a few things.
“The theme of fintech strategies is just the balance between new technologies, specifically AI and Gen AI and compliance and regulation.
“Those are our friction points and things we need to focus and concentrate on.
“We also addressed some of the underutilised technology - the things that are less interesting or less of a focus right now so we can make sure those continue to be the long-term strategy of the technology platform, but also make sure we are evolving on some of those newer pieces of technology.”
How difficult is it working across financial markets with the current regulations?
“We have a great complexity - we have about 50 states who all have their own opinions on all of the regulations - so that causes more complexity.
“If you take the approach that with constraint and boundaries, you find more creative solutions, we are apt to follow it because of the focus on that (regulations).”
What are your goals and challenges in the next 12-18 months?
“The intention for us is to drive and continue to drive agent efficiency - which is ensuring that our agents have anything they need at the tip of their fingers and allowing that customer interaction to be more streamlined than it has been historically in the industry.
“That is challenging because there are other large companies and carriers that we’ve got to work with to make sure that happens.
“And the other side is ensuring that we’re driving the digital transformation with the customer.
“In the UK, you have a great digital marketplace that relates to auto insurance, evolving on some of those, more commoditised products as well on our end to ensure that we're driving, that digital exchange with the customer as well.”
