EBANX Leads Integration for Brazil's Pix Automático Launch
EBANX is set to offer early access for recurring transactions via a instant payment system, transforming LatAm’s largest digital commerce market in 2025

EBANX, a global technology company specialising in payment services for emerging markets, has announced it is prepared to begin integrating merchants with Brazil's forthcoming Pix Automático feature.

This move positions EBANX at the forefront of a significant development in Brazil's digital payments landscape.

Pix Automático, a new capability of Brazil's instant payment system Pix, is scheduled for launch on 16 June 2025 by the Central Bank of Brazil.

The feature will enable recurring transactions, potentially transforming the landscape for subscription-based businesses in Latin America's largest digital commerce market.

Early Access for Merchants

From this month, EBANX's merchant partners can access technical documentation to integrate the company's API for Pix Automático.

This early access allows businesses to commence backend development and test their integrations in a simulated environment, ensuring they are prepared for the feature's official release next year.

Fabio Scopeta, Chief Product and Technology Officer at EBANX, says: “By partnering with EBANX, merchants can secure their competitive edge in the market, being ready to offer Pix Automático from day one.”

The move by EBANX to provide early integration support reflects the company's strategy to maintain its position in Brazil's rapidly evolving payments landscape. By offering this service well in advance of the official launch, the firm aims to give its merchant partners a significant advantage in a competitive market.

Expanding Pix's Functionality

Pix, currently the second most used instant payment method globally, has been operational since 2020.

The system has played a significant role in financial inclusion in Brazil, integrating 71.5 million users into the financial system within its first two years, according to the Central Bank of Brazil.

The introduction of Pix Automático aims to streamline recurring payments, potentially benefiting sectors such as streaming services, software-as-a-service (SaaS), and digital media.

Users will be able to set up automatic future transactions by scanning a QR code or providing their banking details, or by activating the feature after an initial bill payment.

Fabio explains the benefits of the new system: “This solution streamlines billing processes and subscription payments, reduces friction, and enhances payment efficiency, for users and businesses.”

The expansion of Pix's capabilities is expected to continue beyond Pix Automático. Future innovations may include payments via mobile proximity, instalment options, foreign account accessibility and offline consumer payments.

These developments could further cement Pix's position as a cornerstone of Brazil's digital payment infrastructure.

Impact on Digital Commerce

The introduction of Pix Automático is expected to have a significant impact on Brazil's digital commerce sector.

EBANX reports that companies accepting Pix in digital commerce have already experienced a 16% increase in revenue and a 25% growth in client numbers. The firm anticipates that Pix Automático could further boost these figures by improving customer satisfaction and retention rates.

“We remain attentive to how Pix Automático will impact the market and consumers, especially since one in five people who use Pix has already done so with EBANX,” Fabio states.

The potential for Pix Automático to transform recurring payment models in Brazil is substantial. In the past two years, person-to-business (P2B) transactions have nearly doubled their share of monthly Pix transactions, increasing from 22% to 40%.

With the introduction of Pix Automático, this trend is expected to accelerate, particularly in subscription-based business models.

Changing Payment Landscape

For merchants, particularly those in the digital commerce sector, Pix Automático presents an opportunity to streamline operations and potentially increase revenue.

The system's ability to facilitate recurring payments could be particularly beneficial for subscription-based services, which have seen significant growth globally in recent years.

EBANX's data suggests that the impact of Pix on digital commerce has been substantial. The company reports that 95% of people who made their first purchase at one of the fintech's partner online stores paid using Pix.

This high adoption rate underscores the potential impact of Pix Automático on the e-commerce landscape.

Fabio concludes by emphasising EBANX's commitment to payments innovation: “Our commitment is to always be aligned with pioneering efforts in the sector and leadership in Brazil's payments landscape, to offer the best solutions for our merchants and their clients.”
