A Look at the Leading Fintech Events in London

London has been and continues to be one of the leading fintech hubs on the globe. Indeed, in 2022, London overtook San Francisco and New York as the world’s biggest centre for fintech investment, attracting £7.8bn (US$9.87bn) in fintech capital.

Today, it still sits high in the upper echelons of the Fintech space, chiefly rivalled by Silicon Valley and New York. 

And, as a leading fintech hub, London is home to several of the world’s largest and most significant events in the industry. Here, we run through London’s leading fintech events.

PAY360

Held at London’s ExCeL Centre, PAY360 is a premier industry event, that – at its latest conference in March 2024 – attracted more than 4,000 payment professionals and 100 exhibitors across two days. 

PAY360 has made a name for itself by selecting speakers who eschew prepared PR scripts. It is in this way that PAY360 looks to unpack difficult industry challenges by fostering constructive dialogue and structured debates among diverse stakeholders. 

IFGS

The Innovate Finance Global Summit (IFGS) celebrated its 10th anniversary in April 2024, at the Guildhall in London. Held in conjunction with UK Fintech Week, IFGS brings together leading figures from the finserv and fintech sectors to debate pressing issues shaping the industry. 

At its 10th anniversary event, Ian Phoenix from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) delivered a keynote on UK innovation in the regtech space, as new technologies continue to drive the need for updated regulatory frameworks. IFGS champions discussion on economic growth, sustainability and financial inclusion. Its latest event featured UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak reiterating the government's commitment to the fintech sector.  

MoneyLIVE Summit 

Held at London’s QEII Centre in Westminster, MoneyLIVE Summit brings together industry leaders to shape the future of global payments and banking innovation. At its 2024 event, FinTech Magazine spoke with Red Hat’s Monica Sasso and Richard Harmon about Gen AI’s implementation in banking and tips on best practices. 

We also caught up with Jack Spiers, UK&I Banking and Lending Director at Tink, who ran through his expectations for PSD3, and we spoke with Qover’s Parker Crockford on how embedded insurance is mirroring the transformative impact of embedded payments in the financial space. 

Fintech Week London

Fintech Week London most recently took place from 10-14 June 2024. The week-long event celebrates London’s diverse fintech ecosystem, bringing together over 1,000 senior decision-makers form leading fintechs, banks, regulatory bodies and investment firms. 

Going further than just keynote presentations and panel debates, Fintech Week London also offers a series of workshops and networking opportunities with a focus on innovation and collaboration across the fintech economy. 

FinTech LIVE London

The fastest-growing fintech event in the UK’s capital, FinTech LIVE London will be returning on 22-23 October 2024 for its fourth annual conference. 

First introduced in 2021, FinTech LIVE offers attendees the opportunity to connect, learn, and share insights on the latest trends, challenges, innovations, and best practices within the fintech industry.
