Everyone is doing digital today, right? Well, yes, but there's a difference between doing digital for digital's sake and being a digital leader. And while the financial services sector is a hotbed for innovation, digitalisation and the ceaseless rolling out of new technologies, whether it's incumbent banks, insurance companies or fintech unicorns, someone always has to be at the sharp end.

Out latest video looks at the first in that list: banks. For the close to three minutes it takes to run through our top 10 most digitally advanced banks worldwide, we park the common misconception that, when it comes to innovation, banks are being left behind.

In fact, as the November iteration of our monthly Top 10 feature attests, the opposite is the case. Our list features many of the largest and most reputable names in banking, all of which are dipping their toes firmly into the worlds of new technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, Big Data and more.

Hot list, top picks

Take ninth place JP Morgan Chase, for example. As one of the world's largest financial institutions it may come as little surprise that it has one of the biggest technology budgets in the sector, but did you know that the company has set $5bn aside from its $10.8bn tech budget purely for fintech investment?

Or how about fifth placed Bank of America? The company's digital transformation has yielded a host of new solutions for its customers such as Erica, an AI-powered financial digital assistant. Erica, in an impressive solo display of work ethic, completed a remarkable 50 million client requests in its - or should that be, her? - first year of operations.

Other names on our list include BNP Paribas, Banco Santander and HSBC, in tenth, eighth and seventh places respectively.
