Lori Beer, JPMorgan Chase & Co.: Leading Tech Innovation

Lori Beer serves as the Global Chief Information Officer (CIO) of JPMorgan Chase & Co., overseeing the firm's technology systems and infrastructure worldwide.
As a member of the company's Operating Committee, she manages a technology budget of more than US$17bn and leads a team of over 63,000 technologists.
Her leadership ensures the seamless operation and advancement of JPMorgan Chase's retail, wholesale and asset and wealth management businesses.
Lori’s career journey
Lori joined JPMorgan Chase in 2014, initially serving as the Chief Information Officer for the Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB).
Before this, she was the Executive Vice President of Specialty Businesses and Information Technology at WellPoint, Inc., where she managed a US$10bn business unit encompassing WellPoint's Specialty Products. Her career reflects a trajectory of leadership in technology within the financial services sector.
Industry influence
Known for her strategic vision, Lori emphasises the integration of cutting-edge technologies to drive innovation and efficiency.
Under her guidance, JPMorgan Chase has invested heavily in cybersecurity, allocating over US$600m in 2020 alone to protect the firm's infrastructure and client data.
She also champions diversity and inclusion, serving as the co-sponsor of the firm's Access Ability Business Resource Group, which focuses on supporting employees with disabilities.
Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Lori actively contributes to the broader technology and financial services communities.
She is a member of the Teach for America New York Advisory Board and serves on the University of Cincinnati's Lindner College of Business Advisory Council.
Her commitment to fostering the next generation of technologists is evident through endowed scholarships at the University of Cincinnati and the University of Dayton, aimed at increasing diversity in STEM fields.
The top thing I spend my day thinking about is the talent needed to help expand an organisation of this scale: we are in one of the hottest tech markets that I've ever seen in terms of attraction of talent.
