Nick Cowell, Banking Strategy Leader at Monitor Deloitte

Nick Cowell leads Deloitte’s Strategy Consulting practice for the Banking Industry. He is also part of the Digital Bank Leadership team. 

Nick has extensive financial services industry experience, delivering complex strategic projects for large multinationals, regional banking institutions and digital bank startups. 

He has worked with clients in North and Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe, with a focus on helping banks define their strategy as they navigate towards a digital future. 

Nick specialises in value proposition business model design, product design and digital challenger bank launches. He also drives Deloitte’s affinity banking efforts, focusing on the intersection of digital banking and financial inclusion.

During the event, Nick will deliver a keynote presentation.

Meryem Erzi, Chief Compliance Officer at Pagaya Technologies Ltd

Meryem Erzi is currently, Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) of Pagaya. In her role she oversees the company's compliance framework, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws, regulations and industry standards. 

Meryem has over 20 years of experience in financial services, as well as experience in corporate and consumer compliance risk management and regulatory oversight.  

Meryem is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager, and at Pagaya, she collaborates with lending institutions, including U.S. Bank, Klarna and SoFi, leveraging her expertise in corporate and consumer compliance risk management and regulatory oversight.

Before joining Pagaya, she spent 15 years at Bank of New York Mellon (BNY), where she held multiple senior leadership roles in Compliance.

During the event, Meryem will take part in the Women in FinTech panel. She will share experiences, challenges, and successes of women in the FinTech industry.

Dave Smallwood, Managing Director of Mollie UK & Ireland at Mollie

Dave is the UK & IE MD of Mollie, one of Europe's fastest-growing financial service providers. 

Dave has over two decades of experience in the Payments sector, holding executive roles at American Express, PayPal and Super Payments. 

As Global Director of Systems Integrator Partnerships at PayPal, he regularly spoke at global fintech conferences. He is also the former founder of Roleshare, a shared skills platform and an angel investor in several startups, including Paysend – a cross-border payments fintech – and a Cotswolds-based distillery. 

Dave has experience in scaling businesses, leadership and navigating the regulatory complexities of the fintech world.

During the event, Dave will take part in the Financial Software Solutions panel. He will explore the latest advancements in financial software, focusing on tools that enhance efficiency, compliance, and scalability.
