Julien Labrot, CEO of Revolut Peru
The latest movers and shakers from across the industry in recent weeks…

Revolut has officially signaled its intent to enter the Peruvian market, marking the fifth Latin American territory in its regional expansion strategy. As part of this launch, the global fintech, which currently serves over 70 million customers, has appointed Julien Labrot as CEO of Revolut Peru to spearhead its local operations.

Julien joins the firm as a seasoned financial veteran, bringing extensive experience within the Latin American region. His background is a key component of Revolut’s strategy to blend its global technological infrastructure with deep, localised market knowledge. In his new role, Julien will be responsible for defining and executing the company’s local strategy and building a team of talent within the country.

The appointment comes as Revolut formally applies for a full banking licence in Peru. This regulatory move is designed to align with the country's rapidly digitising economy, where smartphone penetration is high, yet large segments of the population remain underbanked. Carlos Urrutia, Head of Expansion at Revolut, noted the significance of this approach: “Revolut's entry into Peru is built on our belief that digital financial services should be empowering, accessible, and secure for everyone.

By pursuing a full banking licence we are not just entering a new market - we are committing to becoming a trusted and integral part of Peru's financial ecosystem.”

Julien’s primary focus will be navigating the local regulatory landscape and overseeing the progressive rollout of a comprehensive range of products for individuals and businesses. This includes leveraging recent innovations in digital payments and the shift toward an open payments ecosystem in Peru.

“Our focus is on bringing the best of Revolut to the Peruvian market while building a secure and compliant platform that genuinely serves the needs of our future customers,” Julien notes. “We are here to contribute to the digital transformation of financial services, working closely with regulators to offer a long-term, trusted world-class banking solution for individuals and businesses alike.”

To support these objectives, Julien will oversee hiring efforts across the country, utilising Revolut’s remote-first model to attract skilled professionals as the company works toward its global goal of reaching 100 million customers.
