People Moves: Enrique Lores and Breno Oliveira

PayPal Holdings Inc. has announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Enrique Lores as President and CEO, effective 1 March 2026. Enrique, who has served on the PayPal Board for nearly five years and as Board Chair since July 2024, succeeds Alex Chriss. To ensure a seamless transition, Jamie Miller, the current Chief Financial and Operating Officer, will serve as Interim CEO until Enrique assumes the role, while David W. Dorman has been appointed Independent Board Chair with immediate effect.
The appointment follows a detailed Board evaluation regarding PayPal’s competitive standing. While the Board acknowledged progress over the last two years, they noted that the pace of change and execution had not met expectations. Enrique joins the executive team with over three decades of technology and commercial experience.
He previously spent more than six years as President and CEO of HP Inc., where he navigated a significant strategic transition. At HP, Enrique was credited with expanding the business into services, subscriptions, and AI-enabled offerings, while also architecting the HP/HPE separation to simplify cost structures and improve operating discipline.
In his new role, Enrique is tasked with accelerating innovation and execution. “We will further strengthen the culture of innovation necessary to deliver long-term transformation and balance this with near-term delivery, executing with greater speed and precision, and holding ourselves accountable for consistent delivery quarter on quarter, to further assert PayPal's industry leadership position,” Enrique says.
He highlights that the industry is being reshaped by AI, evolving regulations, and a competitive landscape. “PayPal sits at the center of this change, and I look forward to leading the team to accelerate the delivery of new innovations and to shape the future of digital payments and commerce,” he adds.
David praised the appointment, stating: “Enrique is widely recognised as a visionary leader who prioritises customer-centric innovation with demonstrable impact. His strong track record leading complex transformations and disciplined execution on a global basis will ensure PayPal maintains its leadership of the dynamic payments industry now and into the future.”
The Board thanked outgoing CEO Alex Chriss for his work monetising Venmo and growing the BNPL business. Alex notes: “Now is the right time to make a transition to a seasoned leader who can take the company through its next phase of transformation. I have enjoyed a great working relationship with Enrique, and I am certain he is the right person to meet that challenge.”
European financial technology provider payabl. has announced the appointment of Breno Oliveira as Chief Product Officer (CPO). Having joined the firm in 2022, Breno’s remit has expanded significantly during his tenure, moving from developing core banking to serving as Head of Product before this latest elevation to the C-suite.
The move signals payabl.’s commitment to product-led growth and the continued scaling of its modular platform. In his new capacity, Breno will lead the company’s product strategy and execution, with a specific focus on the flagship unified interface, payabl.one. His responsibilities include overseeing the development of reliable money flows for merchants across various markets and verticals.
Breno’s track record at the company includes several significant technical milestones. He was central to the launch of payabl.’s in-house cloud-native core banking platform and its award-winning card issuing capabilities.
Additionally, he oversaw the introduction of the mobile SDK and the expansion of payment method support to include American Express, SEPA Direct Debit, and Wero. These developments have been credited with strengthening the firm’s ability to handle complex merchant requirements at scale.
Ugne Buraciene, Group CEO of payabl., highlighted the importance of this internal transition, saying: “Breno has been instrumental in shaping our product direction over the past few years.
“He combines deep technical understanding with a strong sense of commercial reality, and crucially, he knows what products and services merchants want and how to build them. His leadership will be key to ensuring we continue to scale without compromising the quality of service that merchants know payabl. for.”
Looking ahead, Breno will focus on strengthening the provider’s presence within the UK and EU. His agenda includes broadening card network coverage, expanding mobile capabilities, and ensuring product development remains aligned with merchant needs.
Breno adds: “We are entering a new phase of growth and international expansion at payabl. My focus is to ensure that payabl. builds products that are reliable, well-designed, and grounded in real merchant needs.
That means combining robust infrastructure with an exceptional user experience, and solving problems properly so our clients can stay focused on running their businesses.”
