People Moves: Alyssa Henry, Member of the Board at PayPal

PayPal has confirmed a significant change to its Board of Directors with the appointment of Alyssa Henry.
Alyssa, an experienced executive within the payments and technology sectors, joins the board as Gail J. McGovern prepares to step down.
Gail has served as a director since 2015 and will not stand for re-election at the company’s upcoming Annual Meeting of Stockholders in May.
Alyssa arrives at PayPal with more than 30 years of experience in scaling global commerce and technology platforms.
Most recently, she served as the CEO of Square at Block, where she led the Square Seller business unit.
During her tenure at Block, she managed software, financial services and payments solutions for millions of businesses on a global scale.
Her professional background also includes senior leadership positions at AWS, where she played a role in transitioning the service from its early stages into a global leader in cloud infrastructure.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Alyssa to the PayPal Board,” says Enrique Lores, President and CEO of PayPal.
Enrique says Alyssa is a “proven operator” whose background in omnichannel payments and software-driven merchant solutions will be “invaluable” as the company seeks to strengthen its position for both merchants and consumers.
At PayPal, Alyssa will be tasked with providing strategic insight to help advance the company’s long-term growth strategy.
David Dorman, Chair of PayPal’s Board, highlights her track record in product innovation and disciplined execution.
David says: “She is deeply versed in payments and understands how to deliver meaningful value to customers and shareholders.”
Alyssa adds: “I am honoured to join PayPal's Board of Directors at such a pivotal time for the company and the broader payments ecosystem.
“PayPal’s global scale, trusted brands and powerful two-sided network uniquely position it to shape the future of commerce.”
Following Gail’s departure, Independent Director Ann Sarnoff will take over as chair of the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee.
