Mårten Mickos Joins Enfuce Financial Services as Chairman

Enfuce Financial Services has a new Board Chairman.
Mårten Mickos, the Finnish-American executive who built MySQL into a billion-dollar business, takes the role as the Helsinki-founded card issuing platform looks to scale across Europe.
The move follows Denise Johansson assuming sole CEO responsibilities in March 2026.
A career built on open-source and security
Mårten took the helm at MySQL AB in 2001. Over seven years, he grew it from a small Scandinavian start-up into the world's second-largest open-source business before Sun Microsystems acquired it in 2008 for US$1bn.
He went on to lead cloud software company Eucalyptus Systems, which Hewlett-Packard acquired, before spending nearly a decade as Chief Executive Officer of HackerOne, the vulnerability coordination and bug bounty platform. He stepped back from that role in 2024.
What the appointment means for Enfuce
Enfuce operates as a regulated EMI entity, holding licences in both Finland and the UK. Its card issuing and processing platform serves brands, banks and fintechs building programmes across the EEA.
Denise says: "He has built global technology businesses that lasted, and he has done it by understanding that the trust of customers is everything."
Mårten says: "Enfuce stands apart because compliance, governance and technical sophistication are embedded directly into its core. That foundation is a major competitive advantage in today's payments market."
