How Envestnet Strengthens its AI Capabilities with a New CTO

The appointment of Bhaskar Peddhapati as Chief Technology Officer at Envestnet signals a strategic push to embed AI more deeply throughout the wealthtech firm's platform.
Peddhapati joins the Pennsylvania-based company with a mandate to accelerate its technical roadmap and position Envestnet for long-term leadership in an increasingly competitive wealth management technology market.
The financial services company was also recently featured in FinTech Magazine’s Top 100 FinTech Companies for its services in the world of WealthTech.
Strategic push with AI
The move comes as Envestnet intensifies its focus on AI-driven transformation across its US$6.5trn platform.
The company serves over 111,000 advisors managing more than 20 million client accounts, making the successful integration of AI capabilities critical to maintaining its market position.
"Bhaskar is an architect of systems, cultures, and transformation," says Chris Todd, CEO of Envestnet.
Chris emphasises that technology sits at the heart of Envestnet's strategy, with Bhaskar's leadership expected to deliver greater intelligence, efficiency and value for clients and partners.
Deep Technical Expertise
Bhaskar brings over 25 years of experience spanning fintech, cloud strategy, data platforms and AI/ML.
He has led global teams exceeding 2,500 engineers and product professionals, building a reputation for creating high-performance engineering organisations.
Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Mortgage Technology Solutions at Cotality (formerly CoreLogic), where he spearheaded modernisation initiatives across the company's property data and analytics portfolio.
In that role, he advanced AI adoption to transform the mortgage and housing ecosystem, driving faster decision-making across the value chain.
Prior to Cotality, Bhaskar spent more than a decade at NielsenIQ, where he helped transform the company into a data-driven enterprise with global scale.
As Global Head of Technology for NielsenIQ's flagship platforms, he built industry-defining solutions including Answers-on-Demand for the US market and Connect Platforms, a global market measurement and consumer insights platform used by consumer packaged goods manufacturers, retailers and agencies.
Earlier in his career, Bhaskar held senior roles at Wells Fargo, contributing to strategies that advanced the democratisation of wealthtech for clients.
AI Integration Imperative
The appointment follows Envestnet's broader efforts to integrate AI capabilities across its ecosystem.
Through its vast wealthtech platform serving a third of all US financial advisors, Envestnet uses AI to provide advisers with deep insights into their clients' complete financial lives, enabling personalised advice at scale.
"Envestnet is at an incredible inflection point – where technology, data, and AI are converging to redefine how advisors and institutions serve their clients," says Bhaskar.
"I'm excited by the opportunity to help accelerate that transformation – putting technology at the center of our business to create more value for our employees and our customers."
Bhaskar explains that the role centres on enabling people to grow, contribute and build the platform for the future of advice together.
Competitive Context
Envestnet was acquired by Bain Capital and taken private in November 2024, a move that has provided the company with resources to invest in technology transformation without the pressures of quarterly public market reporting.
The wealthtech sector has seen intensifying competition, with firms racing to integrate AI capabilities that can automate sophisticated investment strategies and deliver personalised financial advice at unprecedented scale.
Bhaskar's appointment suggests Envestnet is prioritising technical leadership and AI integration as core differentiators in the wealth management technology market.
His experience building global technology platforms and empowering engineering teams to master emerging technologies aligns with Envestnet's stated goal of infusing AI into every layer of its platform.
The success of this appointment will likely be measured by Envestnet's ability to scale innovation across teams whilst maintaining the reliability required by the thousands of enterprises and advisors who depend on its technology infrastructure.
