Coupa Unveils Virtual Card in September Platform Update
Spend management firm launches over 100 features, including AI agents and supplier payment tools

Coupa Software will release more than 100 new features in its September 2025 platform update, marking the company's latest push towards what it terms autonomous spend management.

The business spend management platform provider announced the forthcoming release includes a redesigned user experience through its Clarity 2.0 project, first unveiled at the company's Inspire conference.

The update reimagines how users experience Coupa, starting with an upgraded Coupa Navi interface.

"We've got big news, Coupa's September 2025 release is almost here, and it's packed with over a hundred powerful innovations that bring us closer to our vision of autonomous spend management," says Ulrika Haug, VP Product Marketing at Coupa.

AI Agents and Virtual Payments

The September release expands Coupa's artificial intelligence capabilities with new automated agents building on tools launched at Inspire.

The company will introduce a Navi bid evaluation agent alongside a turbocharged Navi knowledge agent now integrated into Coupa Sourcing optimisation.

Coupa Card represents the company's entry into virtual payment cards, enabling both supplier payments and employee spending.

The card includes tap-to-pay functionality compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay mobile wallet systems, allowing users to conduct transactions on mobile devices.

The virtual card addresses payment integration within procurement platforms, eliminating the need to switch between multiple systems for different transaction types.

Enhanced Supplier and Inventory Tools

Suppliers accessing the Coupa platform will encounter an upgraded profile management system designed to simplify contact information updates and account management.

The release includes a dedicated supplier payments hub providing consolidated cashflow management through a single dashboard.

The payments hub allows suppliers to manage their financial interactions with Coupa customers from one interface, streamlining administrative processes for both parties.

Building on inventory collaboration features announced at Inspire in May, the September release introduces supplier managed inventory capabilities. The update improves traceability and visibility for consigned inventory consumption tracking.

"This isn't just a UI refresh. We are re-imagining how users experience Coupa, and it starts with an upgraded experience with Coupa Navi"

The inventory collaboration enhancements target organisations managing supply chains with multiple inventory locations and supplier relationships. Enhanced consumption visibility aims to provide better oversight of inventory usage patterns.

Haug notes that existing Coupa customers should expect communication from Salva Lombardo, the company's chief product and technology officer, regarding the release details.

The September update represents Coupa's expansion beyond procurement software into spend management, encompassing payments, supplier relationship management, and inventory optimisation within a single platform.

The release maintains compatibility with existing customer implementations whilst introducing new capabilities across procurement workflows.

"This isn't just a UI refresh. We are re-imagining how users experience Coupa, and it starts with an upgraded experience with Coupa Navi," says Haug.
