Exclusive video: Spotlight on fraud and ID verification
Held at the QEII Centre in the heart of Westminster, our annual conference, FinTech LIVE London 2023, proved to be a disruptive learning and networking experience.
The two-day event gave leading lights from across the fintech industry an opportunity to showcase their latest strategies, projects and innovations, while attendees soaked up valuable insight and expertise.
Stage 2's final panel discussion on day one was the Fraud and ID Verification Forum, featuring:
- Clare Messenger, Global Commercial Head of Mobile Intelligence Solutions at JT
- Ori Kissos, Director of Global Regulatory Compliance & MLRO at Tipalti
- Spencer Lake, Partner at 13books Capital (formerly Element Ventures)
- Stephen Roche, Co-founder and President at Saphyre
Setting high standards
Asked about the growing influence of GenAI on the fraud space and the prospect of coming up with solutions, Messenger said there was no one-size-fits-all approach.
"You've got to bring in lots of solutions," she added. "There are different stages in the customer's digital journey and different solutions need to be used for different use cases.
"I think there's always going to be a need for rich data intelligence to back up the new innovations that are coming through. Around the risk scenario, consumers need to be really comfortable with this new world we're moving into, and they want to feel absolutely confident their credentials and personal identities are not going to be compromised."
Roche went on to discuss the importance of fintechs setting themselves high standards when it comes to combatting fraud.
"At Saphyre, working with the largest financial institutions in the world, they expect perfection," Roche explained.
"It is a responsibility – if you want to be successful, to sell into them – to make sure that your products are going to meet these new thresholds and guidelines to get widely adopted."
