Samsung Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Samsung Group, is a leading South Korean engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company. Established in 1970 as Korea Engineering, it holds the distinction of being the country’s first engineering firm. The company was renamed in 1991 and has grown into a global powerhouse, delivering projects across the hydrocarbon, industrial, environmental, and infrastructure sectors.
The company offers end-to-end services, including feasibility studies, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. Over the decades, Samsung Engineering has played a pivotal role in the development of South Korea’s industrial landscape, contributing to key projects like refineries, fertiliser plants, and petrochemical facilities. Its international expansion began in 1993 with a natural gas separation plant in Thailand, and global projects now account for the bulk of its business.
Listed on the Korea Exchange (KRX: 028050) and a constituent of the KOSPI 200, Samsung Engineering is a key player in the industry. Despite challenges, such as the $1.3bn loss in 2015 due to complex projects, the company has continually diversified its portfolio, extending into power plants and steel mills. With strong support from Samsung Group and strategic shareholders like Samsung SDI and the National Pension Service, Samsung Engineering remains committed to delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions worldwide.
