Standard Chartered and LSEG Launch AI Investment Service
Standard Chartered deploys artificial intelligence to convert foreign exchange analysis into video content for retail investors in Asian markets

Standard Chartered has partnered with LSEG, the financial markets infrastructure and data provider, to launch an artificial intelligence platform that converts foreign exchange analysis into video content.

The platform, named Standard Chartered Wealth Management FX Intelligent Expert, uses AI to create one-minute videos with voiceovers and graphics from the bank's daily trading analysis.

The system processes content from Standard Chartered's Daily Market Navigator publication, which provides currency updates from the bank's Global Chief Investment Office.

The technology performs three core functions: it summarises written analysis, translates the content where required, and converts the information into video format.

This automation reduces the production time while maintaining consistency in reporting standards across regions.

Distribution Plans

The service launched in mainland China for retail banking clients in December 2024.

Standard Chartered plans to expand the service to Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan, though specific timeline details have not been disclosed.

Foreign exchange investments form a crucial component of diversified asset allocation strategies.

The video delivery method aims to help investors track rapid changes in currency markets and identify potential trading opportunities.

Technology Implementation

The collaboration marks LSEG's first deployment of AI-powered video generation technology in the banking sector.

The system processes financial data into formats designed for retail investors, creating a platform for interactive and on-demand updates about market movements.

Standard Chartered's initiative aligns with its strategy to enhance wealth management capabilities across Asian markets. The platform provides faster time to market and scalability while maintaining the depth of analysis from the bank's investment office.

LSEG: Pioneering AI-powered tools

The introduction of LSEG’s AI-powered video generation technology at Standard Chartered follows its launch of two verification products aimed at tackling rising payment fraud and identity theft across international banking networks in 2024.

One of its products, Global Account Verification (GAV), addresses authorised push payment (APP) fraud - where customers are tricked into willingly transferring money to fraudulent accounts.

The other, Document and Biometric Verification (DBV), combines facial recognition technology with document screening and liveness detection to combat the rise of deepfake fraud in digital banking.

LSEG Risk Intelligence's initial rollout across 22 countries marked the first phase of its broader international deployment.

This expansion to cover 80% of G20 nations indicates the scale of the initiative, though specific timelines for this growth remain unconfirmed.

For payment service providers operating across borders, these tools offer standardised security protocols that work within multiple regulatory frameworks.
