Mangopay, a leading modular payment infrastructure provider for platforms, has announced a significant leadership change with the appointment of Sergi Herrero as its new Chief Executive Officer.

This strategic move comes as part of the company's ongoing growth trajectory following its acquisition by Advent International in 2022.

Herrero, a seasoned fintech industry veteran, brings a wealth of experience to his new role at Mangopay. His impressive background includes serving as Global Director for Payments and Commerce Partnerships at Meta, where he was instrumental in launching and expanding the company's payment and commerce capabilities.

Herrero's expertise also extends to senior executive positions at Square and BNP Paribas, as well as a stint as Co-CEO of global telecommunications giant VEON.

The new CEO succeeds Romain Mazeries, who has led Mangopay for the past six years and was part of the company's founding team. Mazeries will continue to contribute to Mangopay's future as a member of the board, ensuring a smooth transition and ongoing strategic input.

Xavier Garambois, Chairman of Mangopay's Board, expressed confidence in Herrero's ability to steer the company towards its next phase of development. Herrero himself emphasised his excitement about joining Mangopay at such a crucial juncture, highlighting the company's innovative and differentiated offerings in the expanding e-commerce industry.

This leadership transition reflects Mangopay's ambition to capitalise on the significant growth opportunities in the platform economy. With Herrero at the helm, the company aims to leverage his extensive experience in payments and commerce to further strengthen its position as a global category leader in the payment industry.
