Marqeta Unveils Tools to Streamline Card Programme Migration
Marqeta introduces UX Toolkit and Portfolio Migration services to reduce development time for payment solutions and ease processor transitions

Marqeta, a card issuing platform that enables embedded finance solutions for global financial innovators, has launched two products aimed at reducing the complexity of card programme management and migrations.

The California-based company, which handled more than US$200bn in payment volume in 2023, has developed a UX Toolkit and Portfolio Migration service to help financial institutions move existing card programmes to its platform.

The company's technology enables businesses to turn real-time data into optimised solutions for consumer loyalty and capital efficiency.

Development acceleration

The UX Toolkit provides pre-built interface components that comply with card network regulations, allowing firms to create card management interfaces without extensive development resources.

The toolkit includes features for customer onboarding, account funding, and transaction management, which Marqeta says will reduce implementation time for new card programmes.

The system includes templates optimised for Marqeta's application programming interfaces (APIs) - the software that allows different computer systems to communicate.

These templates enable firms to create interfaces for functions such as PIN management, dispute resolution and account statement viewing. The toolkit has received pre-approval from several partners, including major card networks.

The toolkit also includes Marqeta Studio, a builder environment where firms can customise the appearance of their card management interfaces. This allows businesses to maintain brand consistency through theme, colour, logo, shape, and font customisation options to match their brand identity across the user interface.

Bold.org, a scholarship platform, and Finfare have signed up to implement the toolkit. Dror Liebenthal, Co-founder and Chief Executive of Bold.org, says: “As soon as Marqeta showed us its new UX Toolkit, its capacity to accelerate how we create exceptional cardholder experiences was readily apparent.”

Programme Migration

The Portfolio Migration service focuses on transferring existing card programmes between processors - firms that handle payment authorisation and settlement. The service includes a migration engine designed to handle large-scale data transfers and align that data with Marqeta's standardised scale.

Simon Khalaf, Chief Executive of Marqeta, says: “Card programmes that fail to meet consumer expectations risk being left behind. The market is moving quickly and innovators need a partner like Marqeta that can keep up.”

The tool standardises data from other processors to work with Marqeta's systems, providing access to the platform's analytics capabilities.

This standardisation aims to reduce operational complexity during transitions between payment processors, with the company taking a white-glove approach to programme transitions.

Marqeta operates in more than 40 countries and provides services to companies looking to embed financial services into their branded experience.

The firm's platform puts businesses in control of building financial solutions with compliance and security built in. The technology enables companies to use real-time data for solutions ranging from consumer loyalty programmes to capital efficiency initiatives.

The platform's expansion comes as financial institutions seek modern payment solutions that can scale globally. Marqeta's certification to operate in more than 40 countries positions it to serve firms requiring multi-market payment processing capabilities.

Matt Sollie, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Card Programme Management at Marqeta, says: “It's never been easier to migrate a programme to Marqeta, build out a front-end payments experience and tap into the benefits of our programme management tools.”
