Alex Chriss, PayPal: Digital Payment Innovations
Alex Chriss assumed the role of President and CEO of PayPal Holdings, Inc. on September 27, 2023.
Before joining PayPal, Chriss dedicated nearly two decades to Intuit Inc., where he most recently served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Small Business and Self-Employed Group.
In this capacity, he oversaw global offerings like QuickBooks and Mailchimp, catering to millions of customers worldwide. Notably, Chriss played a pivotal role in Intuit's US$12bn acquisition of Mailchimp in 2021.

Chriss’ career journey
Under Chriss's leadership, PayPal has embarked on a transformative journey to expand beyond traditional payment services.
Emphasising innovation and customer-centric solutions, he has introduced initiatives such as "Fastlane," a one-click guest checkout service designed to enhance user experience and streamline transactions.
This initiative reflects Chriss's commitment to positioning PayPal as a comprehensive commerce platform, bridging the gap between consumers and merchants.
In addition to enhancing online services, Chriss has directed PayPal's entry into in-person payment solutions. A significant development includes integrating PayPal's debit card with Apple Pay, accompanied by a 5% cashback reward programme.
This move aims to capture a share of the burgeoning U.S. point-of-sale payments market, appealing to consumers who prefer debit transactions and mobile wallet integrations.
Alex Chriss's tenure as CEO signifies a dynamic shift in PayPal's strategic direction.
By leveraging his extensive experience in technology and product development, he is steering the company towards a more integrated and customer-focused future, expanding its footprint in both digital and physical payment landscapes.
