Airwallex and Discover Global Network Forge Payment Alliance
Airwallex, a global financial platform that manages payments and treasury operations, has established a new collaboration with Discover Global Network, enabling merchants to accept Discover and Diners Club International Cards as payment methods.
The integration allows Airwallex merchants in Australia, Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Kingdom to process transactions from Discover Global Network's cardholders.
This network encompasses 345 million cardholders across more than 200 countries and territories, according to data provided to Discover by Network Alliances participants and third-party sources as of December 2023.
Reducing cart abandonment through expanded payment options
This collaboration aims to address cart abandonment issuesâwhere customers leave websites without completing purchasesâby offering more payment choices at checkout.
Merchants using Airwallex's platform can now incorporate Discover and Diners Club International Cards into their payment systems, allowing customers to use their preferred payment methods.

For Discover Global Network, the collaboration represents an expansion of its merchant acceptance network, a critical factor in payment card scheme competitiveness.
The network, which operates Discover Card in the United States and partners with Diners Club International globally, continues to build its presence outside its home market.
Strategic expansion in global payments infrastructure
The integration forms part of Airwallex's broader strategy to simplify cross-border commerce for its customer base of over 150,000 businesses.
The company, founded in Melbourne, has built proprietary infrastructure designed to reduce friction in global financial operations.
